A sharpshooter hung up his hat and put on a blindfold.
He then walked 100 yards, turned around, and shot a bullet through his hat.
The blindfold was a perfectly good one, completely blocking the man's vision.
How did he manage this?

Pounded by nails without remorse,
Though guilty of no crime,
My doom is to be hung.
My maker set me on this course.
When the bells of the tower chime,

For the sense of their security
My fate the city chose.
Then people on both sides will see
I'm strongest at the close.
What am I?
