Leibniz is credited as one of the inventors of calculus. But probability was a developing field, and he made a mistake on this simple question.

A fair dice is rolled. Which is more likely: a sum of 11 or 12?

Leibniz argued both are equally likely, as both have just one way of occuring, with 6 + 6 = 12 and 6 + 5 = 11.
What’s wrong with this reasoning?

Four of us are in your field
But our differences keep us at yield

First, a one that is no fool
Though he resembles a gardener's tool

Next, one difficult to split in two
And a girl once had one as big as her shoe

Then, to the mind, one's a lovely bonder
And truancy makes it grow fonder

Last, a stem connecting dots of three
Knowing all this, what are we?
