Mohammad Azharuddin has scored a hundred in his first and last Test match. Kapil Dev was dropped from the third test at Eden Gardens, alongside Sandeep Patil. Chetan Sharma was brought in place of Kapil, while Patil was replaced by a debutant from Hyderabad called Mohammad Azharuddin. Azharuddin scored a century in his debut test match. He scored a century in his last Test inning against South Africa in March 2000.
Azhar is the only player in the world to have hit three consecutive centuries in first three Tests.
