On 10 February 2011 it was announced that Chirag United had beaten United Sikkim to the signing of Sunil Chhetri for the rest of the 2010–11 I-League season. On 3 April 2011 Chhetri scored his first goal for Chirag United against Dempo, however, Dempo won the match 4–2.
