Discus thrower Krishna Poonia is the first Indian woman athlete to win the Gold Medal in Commonwealth Games. She won the gold medal in Discus Throw event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in new Delhi. The Government of India awarded her the civilian honour of Padma Shri in 2011.
