Installing xubuntu on a new WIndows-8 system

I just bought a laptop with Windows8 is pre-installed. It uses several partitions and First I thought of removing it completely. However, I've paid for it so first let it be (by the way it is completely unusable for somebody who has used UNIX/Linux over the past 25 years).
Now I have shrunk one Windows partition to 250 GB to install Ubuntu on. However, when I start installing the first thing that's asked is a device for the boot loader installation. I give /dev/sda6 (which is the partition I would use for Ubuntu) but it complains that it is used for mount point / (natural) and it want a separate partition for the bootloader code which should be marked as a "Reserved BIOS boot area".
I assume it will need an area for the grub loader in the boot-area but there is of course already the WIndows boot code. As extra information: I install in legacy mode as UEFI is too new for me.

I have the impression that it is written some time ago and current new systems are quite different from
say systems sold 4 a 5 years ago.
The UEFI BIOS didn't then exist and MS has done so dirty tricks to prevent other OS's to be installed that I want to be sure I can safely install it without hampering the use of Windows (if I want it).
The reason I want it that I have 2 programs that need Windows as they don't run acceptably under wine and the only other option is VMware or Virtualbox (I use the Former) but If you have an new Windows (by necessity) then it's logical to use it when necessary.

I am newbie in Apache concepts and only know Apache Tomcat. Following is my requirement, would anybody please help me how to setup.

I have a clustered JBOSS EAP 6.3 instances running on two different Windows 8 machines. Now I am planning to put a load balancer to dispatch the requests to these JBOSS clustered servers.

I am thinking of Apache httpds as a load balancer. What I got to know is these Apache web server will be available in source code and source code needs to be compiled as per the environment.

I am not finding any Windows 8 (64bit) Apache http installed in the Apache site. Would someone help me from where to download the Windows 8 (64bit) version of Apache httpd service.

And also any guide to setup the load balancer on Windows machine.
