Why you use repository connectivity?

Question

I have installed Informatica 8.6 on Vmware and SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on my local host. I am not able to connect the Informatica with SQL Server 2008 R2.

Kindly help me as soon as possible.

When you edit,schedule the sesion each time,informatica server directly communicates the repository to check whether or not the session and users are valid.All the metadata of sessions and mappings will be stored in repository.
