Hi,

If re establishment is not there then UE has to start a connection fresh, that means it has to follow all fresh attach procedure but it is not needed , because already UE context is present in MME and ENb, So re establishment will save all those attach procedure time. It will have only 3 msg communication, Re-establishment request, re-establishment msg, re-establishment complete.

Upon detecting Radio Link Failure UE will do RRC Connection re-establishment but to do RRC Connection re-establishment security should be activated in UE, otherwise UE will go Idle mode.So here(After detecting RLF) we are resetting all PHY,MAC,RLC,PDCP Configurations but why we are making security should be there to do RRC Connection re-establishment.
