Why sequences are generated by PHY of UE for a selected RACH preamble?

MAC of UE will select a RACH preamble and will be sent over PHY of UE. I read that PHY will be knowing a sequence for that selected preamble and it generates the sequence and then it will be sent to eNB. So the sequences are meant for distinguishing the preamble or is there any other reason for it?

Hi,

Yes, Based on selected preamble index PHY will generate sequence. This sequence is based on the following parameter , rootSequenceindex , Highspeedflag,zeroCorrelationZoneConfig and preamble index. you can refer these parameter in 36.211
