Say e.g ENB given some random preamble to UE1 to do RACH, but in -case same preamble is selected by UE2(preamble given to UE 1) and doing RACH .
In the above scenario ENB will not give any CRM message to UE's so how contention will be resolved for UE2?

Contention based and contention free preambles can not be common in real scenario. So there is no chance of collision.

As per this scenario, there can be below possibility
1. If both ue sending eNb selected preamble at same time and eNb is not able to detect any preamble .then eNb will not send rar.

  1. Suppose eNb is able to decode ratch preamble then it will send the rar with c-rnti. For correct ue , this will be the rach complete and it will not send the msg3.
But wrong ue should try for msg3 he should not get msg4.

UE will select preamble group based on the msg3 size and path loss, then if msg1 fails then pathloss is more so it should change the preamble group , because existing preamble group is having more path loss but UE selects same preamble group is mentioned in spec why?
