5G: What is the difference between gNB and ng-eNB in terms of functionality ?

How these two terms differ from each other and which concept or technology bring out the difference ?

In case of gNB, protocol stack towards UE for control and user planes would be based on 5G technology while in case of ng-eNB, protocol stack towards UE would be same as LTE. In both the cases gNB and ng-eNB, connectivity towards core network would be based on NG interface.
