Similar to LTE S1-AP layer, 5G network supports NG-AP between gNB and AMF. NG-AP uses SCTP as transport. IANA assigns the SCTP port number for standard protocols. Earlier, IANA had defined 36412 SCTP port number to be used by LTE S1-AP layer and now again it reserved 38412 SCTP port number to be used by next generation interface i.e. NG interface between gNB and AMF.
