Please check the value of AVP that is being sent in request message. Answer message would be carrying failed AVP for which it is happening. Just have a look into packets being exchange between both Diameter entities.
It is usually possible when an AVP has defined set of values and sender sent AVP with the value that is out of defined range/set.

In one Diameter blog, I saw a statement in which mentioned, if a Diameter node receive CER from unknown peer it responds back to that peer with Result-Code AVP set to "DIAMETER_UNKNOWN_PEER".
Now my query, Does a Diameter node keep its potential peers information in advance ?

We are connecting the PCEF to PCRF. But the Gx link is not coming up. I have observed that there are CER/CEA successful between PCEF a PCRF. DWR is generated by PCRF (i.e. seen in the logs) but it is not sent (i.e. not seen in the capture). Any suggestion on what could be the issue.

I went through the following link:
http://diameter-protocol.blogspot.in/2011/03/diameter-peer-discovery.html

By going through the link, I came to know about two approaches to do peer discovery.
1. Selection Location Protocol (SLP)
2. DNS

I'm curious to know which one is the widely acceptable approach and on what basis acceptable option is better than the other one.

I know the basic differences between following Diameter nodes
- Diameter Relay Agent
- Diameter Proxy Agent
- Diameter Redirect Agent

But actually I am looking for the use cases where these above nodes are deployed to strengthen my knowledge.
Thanks in advance.
