I dont know in depth, but I think the UPF component in the 5GCore maps the SDFs to QOS Flows. (which are identified with the field QFI).

In the gNB, the SDAP maps these QOS Flows to DRBs.

I think in LTE, bearers were in the Core network level also unlike in 5g, where it is at gNB level.

I was going through deployment options 4A and 7, in which LTE eNodeB interacts with NGCN for control plane and user plane.
I am thinking the scenarios that when an operator would require particular option 7 in which eNodeB control and user plane both ends interface towards NGCN ? If this is the case then S1-AP and NG-AP both protocols will have to implement at next generation core network.
Is my understanding of option 7 is correct ?

In LTE network, UE registers with network using attach procedure. MME supports couple of states such as EMM-REGISTERED, EMM-DEREGISTERED to maintain the status of UE registration. I want to know that how network registration is being implemented at 5G core ? Is it as same as LTE network EMM states ?
