Apple is bringing major changes to the iPad as the Cupertino giant unveiled iPadOS last night at WWDC. Some of these features were highly requested by iPad users for better usability, functionality and adaptability. Apple announced the new iPadOS with new features that brings the iPad closer to laptops. Here are the features announced by Apple for iPadOS:

1. Mouse Support

iPad users have requested mouse support for a while especially since the new iPad Pro is powerful enough to take on most laptops. For now, Apple has implemented mouse support as an AssistiveTouch feature which we feel is just the starting point. This feature at the moment simulates the touch action and can be done using a mouse instead. Currently, the feature is compatible with Apple's Magic Trackpad, and wireless Bluetooth mice. USB mice are reportedly supported but we can only be sure once it rolls out.

2. USB File Transfers

In order to come closer to a laptop's functionality, Apple's Files app needed additional support for better files management. Most users wanted support for USB drives and Apple is finally bringing support on the iPadOS. The new operating system will allow users to easily plug in USB drives, SD cards or log into an SMB file server. There's also support for importing photos directly from a camera into Lightroom.

3. Second Screen

If you own a Macbook and want additional screen space, the iPad will now be able to fill that void. iPadOS brings the added feature of using your iPad as a secondary display. You can even use the iPad to edit images on your MacBook in real time.

4. Better Multitasking

iPad users can now work with multiple files and documents from the same app simultaneously with updates to Split View, or can quickly view and switch between multiple apps in Slide Over. For example, customers can compose an email while viewing another email side by side or access multiple apps like Messages or Calendar with just a swipe.

The iPad OS will be available for beta users later this month and is available now for Apple Developer Program members.
