As far as I remember it is 11 (total number of dedicated + default bearer). The same is applicable for the UMTS also i.e. total 11 (Primary + Secondary PDP context)

However all the vendors does not support 11, also one primary/default is mandatory and remaining 10 can be dedicated or default.

As per spec i have seen  EBI (EPS Bearer Identity) is of 4 bit so total 16 possible  But as 0-4 is reserved and left 11 UE is allowed per PDN.

But i am having doubt that as per each DRB at network sites It creates one EPS bearer .

So no of DRB possible is 8 maximum (UE-ENODEB)

so 11 how the mapping is made and why 11 tell the scenario when it is using maximum all 11 EPS Bearer ....
Not sure, lets wait for others to comment...
As far as I remember that's how it used to work as it in UMTS. But in LTE things should be same I am also not sure about the DRB.

Total 8 bearer can be supported to a UE. Each bearer is associated with a QCI value. If you will check QCI 8 and 9 both have same packet delay budget and packet error loss rate. It's my personal thought that due to same characteristics system will establish a bearer of either QCI 8 or 9. So total 8 bearer is being supported for an UE in LTE to fulfill all its requirements.

8 Bearer  means it is 8 DRB / 8 ERAB /  8 EPS Bearer

can u make it clear ???
Beacuse as per spec total no of EPS Bearer support is 11 ...so 8 ---11 how it happens
there are 3 maximum default bearers and 8 dedicated bearers for one ue..ue can connect maximum 3 diferent APN/PDN.
Can you please provide a reference for the same answer ?
Thanks in advance.

EPS bearer identity
A L3 protocol may define that bits 5 to 8 of octet 1 of a standard L3 message of the protocol contain the EPS bearer identity. The EPS bearer identity is used to identify a message flow.

Suppose UE is attached with LTE n/w and have one default bearer and one dedicated bearer. eNodeB is releasing RRC connection due to inactivity. Now in RRC-Idle/EMM-Idle, will UE and EPC keeps bearer configuration of both dedicated and default bearer? Or will it have only default bearer configuration.
