If I understood your question correctly, LTE core network imposes security for lte signalling and IP sec for user plane. LTE signalling security is also known as NAS security, I know only two of them. One is AES and another one is SNOW 3G.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Trying to understand the question in your perspective and answering accordingly.

1) Encryption/Ciphering type: Snow3g, AES, ZUC algorithm are used in lte.
As Vimal explained above these would be used for LTE signalling. As you said except radio part I haven't understand it clearly as LTE signalling is between UE<-->MME then offcourse radio will come into picture.

2) If you want to talk about security in core-network. IP Sec can be used. This will apply security between eNB<-->(MME | SGW | PGW). It protect the IP layer data.

I was going through one article on topic "Multi Operator Core Network". I want to know when a cell is shared between two different operator then how does eNodeB MAC layer treats for users of both the operators. Can a eNodeB provide different level of priorities among users of different operators ?

Is there any strategy or relation holding the number of eNodeBs that can be connected to a particular MME?
