How Cyclic Prefix removes Inter-Symbol Interference?

I just know that it removes the ISI but want to know how ? Better to explain me with an example. That would be helpful.

• Inter symbol interference is easily discarded by insertion of Cyclic Prefix at transmitter and removal of Cyclic Prefix at receiver.

• Intra-symbol interference is not removed BUT suppressed in a way where frequency selective channel is converted into a transmission over N parallel flat-fading channels in the frequency domain.
