Setting up dovecot under CentOS-6.4

I want to set up dovecot on a CentOS server. I did this before, some time ago, but it seems to have become much more complicated, involving postfix, amavisd-new and clamav (for spamassassin).

What puzzles me is the role, if any, of procmail and .procmailrc in this new system.
Is procmail no longer used/needed?

1) you need some form of message transport, whether its postfix or sendmail is up to you. AV stuff is strictly optional.

2) procmail can be used as the delivery agent if you so want. if you do use it, then you can configure it with .procmailrc scripts on a per account basis to do all the usual procmail things. if you're using postfix as the MTA, then you can use its built in 'local' delivery agent, or that can be configured to use procmail if you prefer.

I was being a bit silly, mixing up the configuration of dovecot + postfix with setting up spamassassin.
I have two CentOS-6.4 servers, in different places. One has been running dovecot + sendmail since CentOS-5, and the upgrade to CentOS-6 did not affect this.
The other server has never run dovecot until now, and I had not realized that sendmail had been replaced by postfix as the default MTA. It seems to work fine.

I was just wondering, is there a "correct" or "preferred" way of setting up the path and other environment variables for Qt 4 development/build using qmake and all - on a CentOS 6 system?

I mean, this does not work out-of-the box, at least if you have build files that assume "qmake" may be executed just like that - as there is no Qt 4 qmake on the path, although "qmake-qt4" is available. Also, if
qt3-devel is installed, and the default path setup is used, "qmake" will point to the Qt 3 version, as the package includes a profile.d file that modify the path in such a way. Which also sets up other Qt related
variables, I believe. There is no such file in qt4-devel, however.

I know ways to set up everything so that this works as expected, of course, but it would be interesting to know how the packagers intended it to be done. Are you expected to edit login files by hand? That's sort
of surprising in this day and age... Or is the thinking that the suffixed ("-qt4") version of commands will always be used? Or that everyone will be using plain make with pkg-config? Or is there some other mechanism that should to be used to select the right Qt version?

I have a big performance problem with a mail server using dovecot and authenticating users via ldap.
The architecture of the machine is a local ldap and mysql server, they are used by dovecot for authenticating the mail users.

If i use pam_sss the mail server has about 1/8 - 1/10 the performances it has if i use the pam_ldap.
Even doing a 'time ls -l' on the mail tree (there are about 3000 ldap users in that directory) it is very very slow, the first time I try to do it after a reboot, it takes about 6 minutes with sssd, and about 8 seconds
with ldap.

Since I know sssd is recommended, anyone knows that there is anything in configuration I can try to increase the speed, avoiding me to use the old pam_ldap module?

I rebooted a server having a 20TB XFS volume under LVM and wait about 15 min to boot.

It stays at;
Setting up logical volume management
For 15 min then proceeds to boot fine.

During this time, I see the 14 disks of the 20TB volume flashing quickly as though being read. Nothing in my logs to indicate bad behavior. I am running the latest 6,4 kernel.

I have a need to use a project management software package under Centos 6.6 and have started looking at ProjectLibre which is a Java package.

Unfortunately it seems to have shortcomings when it comes to following up projects and my current understanding is that it falls short of Microsoft Project 2010, i.e., a previous version.

Does anyone have experience with this type of software and what would you recommend?
