What is the functionality of LTE physical layer ?

I am looking for physical layer functions. Precisely would also be fine. Need to be more exact in answer.

Followings are the LTE physical layer functionalities:
1. Link adaption or adaptive modulation and coding (AMC)
2. Power control
3. Cell search during initial synchronization and handover purposes
4. Measurement for intra and inter-RAT technology, as per RRC ask.

I have just mentioned few points above and have very limited knowledge over these points.
