Ganga

Holy Ganga was declared as India’s National River on November 4, 2008 by then prime minister of India Manmohan Singh. The prime reason of this declaration was to save Ganga from dying because of pollution and over exploitation. Along with declaring it as a national river government also set up a high-power Ganga River Basin Authority to stop its pollution and degradation.
