Pakistan literally means "land of the pure" in Urdu and Persian. Pakistan word is made of two words Pak + Stan, Pak means pure in Persian and Pashto whereas suffix stan means "the place of" in Persian and is also the synonym of Sanskrit word sthana which also means place.
