Synecdoche
In synecdoche a part is used to represent the whole or vice versa; metonymy is to describe something or someone by an attribute or something associated; metaphor is an analogy, relating one thing to another that is otherwise unrelated: bahuvrihi are compound adjectives which use synecdoche but extend it, e.g. "flatfoot".
