Native American headdresses and blankets
Americans were protesting taxation without representation, evidenced by the British tax on the tea, and a perceived monopoly by the East India Company which supplied the tea. A group of men boarded the ship in which the tea was currently stowed as it waited in the harbour and tossed the cargo overboard.
