Energy to drive processes like muscle contraction, nerve impulse propagation and chemical synthesis
ATP is an organic chemical found in all forms of life, the "molecular unit of currency" of intracellular energy transfer, and a precursor to DNA and RNA. In biochemistry, ATP is classified as a nucleoside triphosphate, three components being a nitrogenous base (adenine), the sugar ribose, and the triphosphate.
