A series of civil wars
The wars flared in France during the minority of Louis XIV. La fronde was the name of the sling in a childrens game played in the streets of Paris in defiance of civil authorities. The failure of the Fronde is seen as facilitating the emergence of Louis XIV's absolute monarchy. The Thirty Years War was concluded with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, before the struggles of La Fronde broke out.
