Hollar's maps include: "A new & exact Map of England", Wales and most or Scotland which was exact enough to be adopted by the army as the ‘Quartermaster’s Map’; multiple panoramic views of London and other cities; and (as commissioned by Charles II after the Great Fire of London in1666) an exact surveyed "aerial" map of London immediately after the fire to enable the swift rebuilding of the London area and the rescue of its mercantile operations. His work overall includes some 400 drawings and 3,000 etchings, some 2,740 plates of views, portraits, ships, religious and heraldic subjects, landscapes, and still life in different forms.
