1996
The 1996 Summer Olympics were held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The events were tennis, archery and track cycling, held at Stone Mountain. The mountain at the foot of which the city stands is remembered as a site of the rebirth of the Ku Klux Klan as well as being noted for sculptures, an exceptionally large rock bas-relief, of three Confederate Leaders in the American Civil War.
