Encephalitis affects the brain. Encephalos is brain, etymologically derived from Greek Enkephalos. Inflammation of the brain is known as encephalitis, often used in relation to infection of the brain especially viral infections such as Japanese B encephalitis, Herpes encepahlitis and of course, the dreaded Ebola virus encehalitis
