Italy
The "incident" followed the killing in Greek territory of an Italian general, and staff, who was heading a commission to resolve a border dispute between Albania and Greece. The Italian Prime Minister, Benito Mussolini, dispatched forces to bombard, invade and occupy Corfu. A controversial settlement in Italy's favour was arranged by the League of Nations before Italian forces were withdrawn.
