On the dwarf planet Pluto
The areas were named in the course of detailed observation of Pluto in the course of the 2015 flyby of NASA's New Horizons spacecraft. Clyde Tombaugh is credited with the final identification of Pluto in 1930, Sputnik is the first spacecraft to be launched outside Earth's atmosphere to become, in 1957, Earth's first artificial satellite.
