Thar (Rajputana) Desert, also known as The Great Indian Desert, lies across parts of Rajasthan state, northwestern India, and Punjab and Sindh (Sind) provinces, eastern Pakistan. It is an arid region of rolling sand hills separated by sandy plains and low barren hills, which covers about 77,000 sq. miles (200,000 sq. km).
