Conifers first known in the Middle Jurassic
Araucaria are found in New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, eastern Australia, New Guinea, East Argentina, South Brazil, Chile and Paraguay. They grow between 5 and 80 m tall (16-262 ft) tall with horizontal, spreading branches growing in whorls and covered with leathery or needle-like leaves.
