This name comes from the Arabic for 'noblity of faith/religion', and appears in the name of an Indian classical musician and a 13th century ruler.
However, it is perhaps more familiar to us because of a genial character well known for rubbing things the right way.

Allaudin khan is the singer and Aladin is the Disney character who rubs the lamp to Summon his Genie.
