The distribution of employees ie., managers:others is in the ratio 99:1 (99%) and since there are 100 employees there are 99 managers.
Now to bring the percentage of managers down from 99 to 98 this ratio must be altered ie., managers must leave if there are no additions to other catagorie.
99/100 = 0.99
98/99 = 0.9898 ( 1 manager out )
97/98 = 0.9897 ( 2 managers out )
.

.
49/50 = 0.98 ( 50 managers out )
Therefore 50 managers must exit to achieve this percentage.

Out of 100 employees, 99 are managers.
If we want to bring the percentage down to 98%, it means that we want 98 managers and two employees.
We can achieve that by reducing the number of managers to 49 managers and one employee
then, 49/ 50 x 100 = 98%
What it means 99 - 49 = 50 managers must leave the room
