What number gives the same result if you divide it by 2 or take 2 from it? What number gives the same result if you divide it by 3 or take 3 from it?

Note: you will need to include a fraction or decimal for this one...

For the first number it's given that
X/2 = X - 2
X = 4
Which means 4/2 = 4 - 2 = 2
For the second number
X/3 = X - 3
X = 9/2
Which means (9/2)÷3 = (9/2) - 3 = 3/2.

Suppose the number be x. Then given, x/2 =x - 2. or 2x - 4 = x. Or x = 4 is the answer. M J SUBRAMANYAM
