When the question states
1 dollar = 100 cent = 10 cent x 10 cent
It wrongly declares 100 cent = 10 cent × 10 cent
100 cent can only written as 10×10 cent
Writting cent twice implies 100 cent = 100 cent^2 which is incorrect.

1 dollar = 100 cent
1 dollar = [(10)*(10)] cent
1 dollar = [(10)*(10)] (1/100) dollar { cent = 1/100 dollar }
1 dollar = 100/100 dollar = 1 dollar.
