What are your "sine rules"? Where are the right angles?
Dear teuxe , sine rules applied here are
In a triangle ABC with sides a,b,c and its corresponding opposite angles A,B,C
{a/Sin(A)}={b/Sin(B)}={c/Sin(C)}  , holds for for any triangle , there are no right angles here ..

Draw a parallel line (EG) to AC.
DG = 2
The triangles DGE and DAF are similar.
DE/DG = DF/DA
x/2 = (8+x)/5
5x = 16 + 2x
3x = 16
x = 16/3
