Sachin Tendulkar studied in the Sharadashram school in Mumbai. His cricketing coach was Ramakant Achrekar whose contribution was very important in the rise of Tendulkar. Reportedly, coach Achrekar was so impressed by Sachin's batting, that he would offer a coin to any bowler who would dismiss Sachin; however if no bowler could get him out, Sachin would get the coin. Sachin reportedly got 13 such coins from his coach.
Ramesh Tendulkar is Sachin's father, Ramesh incidentally named Sachin after the legendary music composer Sachin Dev Burman. Anand Mehta is Sachin's father-in-law, father of his wife Anjali.
