Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu was the first state to organize Ranji Trophy. It's a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between teams representing regional cricket associations. The competition is named after first Indian cricketer who played international cricket, Ranjitsinhji, who was also known as "Ranji". The trophy was donated by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. The first match of the competition was held on 4 November 1934 between Madras and Mysore at Chepauk, Chennai.
