I think there are numerous reasons to it such as :

  1. To give the best view to the public in stadiums on either side of the pitch.
  2. To reduce the wearing out of the pich as ,if they do not change the ends after a 5-day match the condition would be of a pitch having been played on from 10 days and other side would be damn clean.
  3. Also batsmen would have to run 22 yards after every over without any reason of substance.
  4. In hindsight you may say that just because batsmen don't have to walk 22 yards the other 11 men reverse their position, but the first two reasons are substantial enough.

When bowler is bowling over the wicket and ball pitches out side off and is hitting the stumps, the LBW is given.

But when bowler is bowling around the wicket and ball pitches out side of leg but hitting the stumps then why LBW is not given.

Can any body tell me logic behind this rule?
