Chess Grandmaster
Polgar was 15 years 5 months at the time, and the title was a men's Grandmaster title. Hungary, one of the strongest chess-playing countries, had all but one of their strongest players participating in the championship at which she won the title. Her older sister had made history in January of the same year by becoming the first woman to earn the men's Grandmaster title.
