In RRC Connected Mode, Paging does for the following three purposes.
- Informs to all UEs in cells about system information change.
- For ETWS warning notifications to all the UEs in a cell.
- For CMAS notifications.
Other than above these scenarios, Paging is also does for UEs which are in RRC- IDLE mode and network receives data from them.
In this case, MME initiates paging for an UE.
In connected mode, since data/notification is intended for all UEs present in a cell, data sent over paging channel considering default paging cycle of a cell.
