I'd like to ensure core files go to a local partition rather than the default location ($HOME), which is network-mounted in my case.

Googling a bit, I found this: https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/61536

In light of that, a few questions... Does this still apply to abrt in Fedora 19?

That page suggests that when abrt is in use, core files would be generated in the location set by abrt, which defaults to /var/spool/abrt. However, I have abrtd running and I'm definitely getting core files in $HOME. Does abrt just make a copy to put in /var/spool/abrt?

Might my problem be resolved as simply as telling abrt not to make a copy? I'd be fine with just having the core files in /var/spool/abrt. Otherwise, I imagine I'd like them somewhere named /var/users/$USER/dump
(or similar). How do I do that and continue to play nicely with abrt?

I am having problems with mate DT.

If I leave the machine idle for a minute or two, (even with several windows of TB and FF open),
I end up losing the DT altogether. All Desktop icons and panels disappear. Furthermore, even if I do not leave the machine idle (i.e. I am busy on the KB),
then if I decide to suspend to disk, and later on, turn on the machine and resume,
I have no DT, as if I had left the machine idle for a minute or two.
Is this caused by a setting? Which one?

I have been using Fedora since 2002....and at NO POINT have I ever installed anything even remotely related to KDE.

Fast forward to today, I get the usual notifications that "Updates Are Available"...through the Gnome notifications atop the screen midship....and I proceed to authorize them and install them. Now...Im one of those uptight people who like to "watch" things as they get installed...and I started seeing things like:kf5-kbookmarkskf5-kdedkemoticons....and a slew of other "K" related things.

Is this something to be expected from future updates?....and how do I get rid of these?

I want to start a systemd service (dhcpd) , but only if a link to the internet is present. I don't want the service to start on boot.

systemctl start doesn't work unless the service is enabled.

This works, but it's very kludgy:

if
    *
 systemctl enable
 systemctl start
 systemctl disable
fi

Any better ideas ?
