Packet switching concept is somewhat related to IP network. In IP network, an IP packet travels from source to destination through routers. The job of router is to forward the received IP packet to the correct destination based on the routing table it maintains.
In Telecom domain, two terms circuit switch and packet switch are being used frequently. For example: 2G is purely circuit switch network while 4G is purely packet switch network.
