What TCP and UDP ports required for NetBIOS over TCP/IP use?

Out of three prominent advance transport protocols (TCP, UDP and SCTP) which is the best to use and why should i use that protocol ?

NetBIOS uses the following TCP and UDP ports:
UDP port 137 (name services)
UDP port 138 (datagram services)
TCP port 139 (session services)
