What could be the reason for defining logical channel grouping concept in LTE ? Why logical channels can't be used independently ?

LCG is mainly used to grouping the logical channel for BSR transmission. For more info check the following link.

Hi,

As eNodeB serving mutiple no of UEs buffer occupancy update for each LC and processing it consuming lot of control over head and waste of UE power. It may not possible to serve more number of UEs in single TTI if we consider each LC. So that same type of channels Grouped together and UE can reports its over all buffer occupancy group wise. And UE follows logical channel prioritization to distribute among LCs.

I don't know the complete use of CQI at eNodeB. Does it impact only downlink scheduling parameters or also considered while granting uplink resources ?
