LTE : Dedicated Bearer establishment and terminations

Question 1.

In case 3 different bearers ( 1 Default + 1 dedicated for Youtube + 1 dedicated for Skype ) are established and after some time the Youtube Policy is removed from GGSN then will the established bearer will be terminated?

Question 2.

Suppose there is a requirement of giving the same QOS to set of application ( Youtube and Whatsapp ) then will there be only one dedicated bearer for both application or two dedicated bearers will be established? If one bearer is established for both the application then what if the user stops using one of the applications or the policy is removed from GGSN for one application, will the dedicated bearer be terminated?

Answer 1

Default bearer is created by network to provide always on IP-connectivity to UE. This is also known as internet bearer and used for internet browsing. There are few applications which expects better QoS than an already establishment default bearer. In this case dedicated bearer will be created.
If there is another application which has similar QoS requirement then in that case there is no need to establish another dedicated bearer. Same bearer can be used for data transmission of both of application. In this scenario if you stop using one of the application and continuing with another application, dedicated bearer will remain establish and server the application. But if both the application had stopped in that case bearer will be released.

It is not necessary to establish a new dedicated bearer for each application.
