Is there a way to turn off HSS authentication for a while? Is there any parameter on MME that would ignore the s6a authentication?

I don't know which MME you are using but as per specification, in case of "Emergency Attach for an UE", MME skips the authentication and security steps or the MME accepts that the authentication may fail and continues the attach procedure.
Please check the release document of MME for the support of "emergency attach".
Since I have not yet tested "emergency attach" so I can not make more comment on this. Even I am not sure how UE will behave in case of MME does not perform "Authentication and Security Procedure" in non-emergency attach cases.
