Similar to downlink, in uplink application data is mapped to appropriate radio bearer using uplink traffic flow templates.
Traffic flow templates consist of a set of IP packets filters. Each filter mainly consists of 5-tuple (source ip, destination ip, source port, destination port, protocol id).
Each bearer is associated with one class of QoS such as QCI 1, 5, 6 etc. Each QCI has its own characteristics in term of packet delay budget and packet loss rate. Based on the nature of application and its requirement, a relevant bearer is selected.
If relevant bearer is not available, UE NAS layer trigger dedicated bearer establishment request.
